Abstract

The paper addresses the problem of improving the protection of armored fighting vehicles against destructive means delivered by unmanned aerial vehicles. Modern approaches to the passive protection of the upper projection of combat vehicles based on the use of frame-type, lattice, and screen structures are analyzed. It is shown that these means make it possible to partially compensate for the vulnerability of the hull roof and turret, which, under the conditions of modern armed conflicts, represent one of the most probable impact zones.

Special attention is paid to the development and substantiation of a computational model of a protective frame designed to reduce the effectiveness of munitions delivered by unmanned aerial vehicles. The structural scheme of the proposed device, which has received patent protection, is presented, and its theoretical analysis is carried out using the principles of the strength of materials. A study of the stress-strain state of the main frame elements under concentrated and distributed loads is performed, which makes it possible to determine the permissible strength and stiffness parameters of the structure.

The obtained results can be used in the design of advanced passive protection systems for armored vehicles and in the development of integrated countermeasure systems against threats posed by unmanned aerial vehicles.

The article was published within the framework of a grant-funded scientific project for 2025–2027, IRN AR261059/024 “Substantiation of the structural parameters of a device for protecting armored vehicles from strikes by unmanned aerial vehicles and the development, on this basis, of tactical and technical requirements for its creation” (The study is funded by the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan).
